Gary Fryatt is a seasoned human resources professional with over 20 years of consulting experience.
Gary’s experience stretches across North America with a record of accomplishments in both human resources management and consulting to internal and external clients. He is a customer-focused, strategic thinker with strong business acumen.
As a trusted advisor, Gary has a proven track record in building and maintaining strong relationships with his customers. His passion for assisting customers enables him to effectively manage organizational changes and implement people solutions that drive positive business results.
Before Verity, Gary was Vice President of Client Services for a boutique career transition provider where he led the sales and marketing initiatives with their corporate clients.
Earlier on, Gary was with DBM Canada where he spearheaded the planning and implementation of many major restructuring projects in the public and private sectors.
Prior to that, Gary was Director of Human Resources at Domtar, where he managed staff across Canada responsible for areas including: human capital planning, training and development, labour relations and compensation and benefits. His initiatives included the development of the strategy to restructure staff departments which resulted in company cost savings of $1.2 million.
Gary’s career included time in the manufacturing sector at Varity Corporation, where he was Director of Human Resources. During his tenure, he developed strategies to manage the downsizing process at minimal costs and implemented innovative management development and employee involvement programs.
Gary has a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Western Ontario. He is the current Chair of the Canadian Steel Industry Group and is an active member of the Strategic Capability Network. He is also a previous member of the Toronto YMCA Board of Governors and Chair of the Toronto West End YMCA Regional Council.
